Chester
Recorded as the oldest Racecourse in England, Chester Racecourse dates back to the sixteenth century and oozes character. Set against the banks of the River Dee and stretched over 65 acres, the first recorded race took place in 1539 after consent was given by the Mayor Henry Gee. Since then, the sport and racecourse has continued to develop, with the first grandstand opening in 1817.
The racecourse itself is 1.6km in length and is famous for its very short straight, making it a difficult course for horses with a notoriously strong finish.
Only a short walk to hotels and bars, Chester Racecourses central location makes it a popular destination in the racing calendar. Whether you are celebrating with family and friends or networking with clients, we would love to help. Please get in touch with our team of hospitality experts for more information.
